The card, briefly

What is a Hafilat card and why top up online?

The Hafilat card is the smart contactless card issued by the Integrated Transport Centre for public transport in Abu Dhabi — city buses, inter-city coaches and water buses all read it at the tap point. You keep a balance on the card and it is deducted per ride.

i

Contactless smart card

Tap on the reader at the front of the bus or at the station gate. The fare is deducted from the balance in seconds — no cash, no scanning, no app.

ii

Personal or anonymous

Cards come in personal (with photo, for concessions) and anonymous versions. Both are refilled the same way — with the 16-digit number printed on the back.

iii

Works across Abu Dhabi

One balance, one card. It reads on city bus routes across Abu Dhabi Island, mainland routes, and inter-city services to Al Ain and the Western Region.

Where the 16-digit number is: flip your card over. The serial is printed above or below the barcode — sixteen digits, usually grouped as 0000 0000 0000 0000. That is what you type into the recharge form.
Flow

How the bus card recharge flow works

Three fields, one payment, one receipt. No account is created and we don't ask for your national ID.

  1. Enter your Hafilat card number

Sixteen digits from the back of the card, plus the amount you want to add and your email for the receipt.

  2. Confirm on our billing page

Payment happens on our secure billing page. Your bank may add a quick confirmation step, and that's it.

  3. Balance appears on your card

Once the payment clears, the balance is added to your Hafilat card. Bank confirmation depends on your issuer, typically a few seconds to a couple of minutes.
